The Challenge
Inside Out Group was commissioned to capture the Three Arches bridge installation delivered by Story Contracting in partnership with Network Rail. The lift took place during a night-time rail possession, with a limited window to install the new 140-tonne steel bridge.
Our team needed to document the lift safely while working around cranes, rail infrastructure and low-light conditions. The goal was to capture the scale of the operation and the teamwork behind it.
The Approach
We used a multi-camera setup to capture the bridge installation from several angles.
GoPro and fixed time-lapse cameras recorded the full lift sequence. These cameras showed the bridge moving into position as the night’s work progressed.
On the ground, we filmed cinematic footage using the Canon R5. This allowed us to capture key moments across the site. We also recorded interviews with project managers and supervisors to explain the planning behind the lift.
To show the full scale of the operation, we captured aerial footage with the DJI Mavic 4 Pro. These shots revealed the crane lift and the surrounding railway environment.
The Result
The final film combines time-lapse, aerial drone footage and ground cinematography. Together, they show the full sequence of the bridge installation.
The content highlights the scale of the engineering and the people delivering the project. It provides Story Contracting and Network Rail with a strong visual record of the overnight bridge lift.
