The Challenge
We were commissioned to capture the Westbury Junction Renewal 2025, delivered by Colas Rail UK as part of ongoing upgrades to improve reliability and performance on this key section of railway.
The works involved replacing sections of track and installing new track panels across the junction. The project took place during planned rail possessions and required close coordination between engineering teams. Our goal was to document the renewal works while capturing the scale of the operation and the teams delivering it.
The Approach
We filmed the project across two separate site visits to capture different stages of the works.
On the ground, we used the Canon R5 to record cinematic footage of the installation. We shot using a tripod, DJI RS3 gimbal and handheld setups to create a mix of stable and dynamic shots across the site.
We captured track panel installation, tamping operations and final snagging works, showing the progression of the renewal activity.
To provide wider context, we also captured aerial footage using the DJI Mini 4 Pro. These shots showed the scale of the junction and the engineering work taking place across the site.
We also recorded interviews with key project stakeholders, providing insight into the planning and delivery of the project.
The Result
The final film combines ground cinematography, aerial drone footage and stakeholder interviews to tell the story of the Westbury Junction renewal.
The content highlights the scale of the track works and the teams delivering them. It provides Colas Rail UK with a clear visual record of the project and a strong piece of content to showcase the work across the network.
