The Challenge
The A1 Allerdene bridge demolition was a major infrastructure project delivered over six consecutive weekends. With live traffic management, structural complexities, and strict safety protocols, the demolition had to be carried out in carefully controlled phases. Our challenge was to document the full scope of this high-risk demolition work without disrupting on-site operations—while ensuring every key stage was visually captured for future stakeholder use.
The Approach
We worked closely with Aureos to plan a filming strategy that aligned with each demolition phase. Our crew attended all six weekends to cover every critical moment. Using the Canon R5 mirrorless camera, we captured sharp, detailed footage from ground level, supported by aerial shots from the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone for broader context.
To enhance continuous visual coverage, we installed timelapse cameras and strategically placed GoPros to record close-up demolition sequences that weren’t always accessible in real-time. This multi-angle approach allowed us to piece together a complete narrative of the bridge removal process.
In post-production, our editing team added cinematic music, custom graphics, and applied full colour grading to ensure the final video was polished and impactful—highlighting both the technical challenges and successful delivery of the project.
The Result
The finished video provided Aureos with a high-quality visual summary of the A1 Allerdene bridge demolition—from initial breaking works to the final clear-up. The footage has since been used for stakeholder engagement, internal reporting, and promotional purposes.
By combining timelapse, drone footage, and detailed ground-level filming, we delivered a comprehensive video that showcases the precision engineering, collaborative planning, and logistical complexity behind a landmark demolition in the North East’s road network.
