The Challenge
The South Rail Systems Alliance (SRSA), with Colas Rail UK as a key delivery partner, carried out vital rail replacement works at Bourne End Junction. This project was part of a wider programme to upgrade the UK’s railway infrastructure. The work had to be completed within a tight possession window, adding pressure to the delivery timeline.
Working in a live rail environment added complexity. Every stage needed to be carried out safely and efficiently. Our task was to film the project in a way that showcased the teamwork, technical delivery, and scale of the operation. The video also needed to support internal reviews and act as a stakeholder engagement tool.
The Approach
To capture the works effectively, we used a compact and efficient filming setup. Most of the ground-level footage was filmed using the Canon R5 mirrorless camera. This provided sharp visuals and strong performance in low-light conditions—ideal for night work.
To show the full scope of the site, we flew the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. The aerial footage gave a clear view of the layout and scale of the junction. Alongside this, we recorded interviews with key team members using the DJI Mic 2 wireless system. This ensured clear audio, even in a noisy worksite.
Back in the edit suite, our team added music, motion graphics, and subtitles. This helped bring the footage to life and made the video more accessible and engaging. The final video was delivered in a polished, professional format, ready for both internal and external use.
The Result
The completed video captured the full impact of the rail replacement at Bourne End Junction. It highlighted the skill and coordination of the SRSA team and demonstrated the efficiency of Colas Rail UK’s delivery.
The video now serves multiple purposes. It works as a project summary, a stakeholder asset, and a visual record of the work. It also supports future tenders and internal training.
By combining cinematic ground footage, aerial drone shots, and clear interview content, we delivered a high-quality rail infrastructure video. The final result reflects the scale, complexity, and professionalism behind every stage of the project.
