Connectivity business ITS used our civil work and fibre splicing services to install 7 kilometres of fibre through Nottingham.
Connectivity business ITS required our civil work and fibre splicing services to install 7 kilometres of backbone fibre through the city of Nottingham. This challenging installation would require highway civil ducting, cable chamber works and core drilling. The fibre also needed to be installed to a tight deadline, to ensure that businesses around Nottingham were provided with lightning fast fibre as soon as possible.
We consulted early with ITS to hear their exact specifications for their fibre installation project. From here we examined different installation sites across Nottingham and discussed different cabling route options with ITS, providing them different installation options to best suit their budget. This meant that after a simple consultation session with ITS we were able to offer them a complete fibre installation package from planning to completion.
Our experienced staff surveyed each site, developing precise plans of action that would minimise disruption to nearby housing areas and roads when it came to excavating. As with all of our work, our civil works team followed correct working protocol during all infrastructure aspects of the project, working to our NSI Gold and ISO:9001 accredited standard. This included using a CAT scanner to detect potential underground hazards, site barriers and full personal protective equipment. In some areas our engineers also had to work using existing BT infrastructure when carrying out cabling, so we provided our staff with additional training for using BT’s PIA product.
We also liaised with the city council regarding all highway works and provided our own team of qualified civil engineers to link ducting tracks up throughout the city. Our engineering team also installed sub duct infrastructure to enable ITS to carry out easy network expansions in the future, with minimal groundworks and disruption required.
Our fibre splicing team reliably carried out all fibre splicing works on the project, using their experience in all aspects of fibre fusion to work through each install with maximum efficiency. For example we utilised blown fibre to cover ground much faster than traditional methods. For each site our team provided full OTDR end to end testing, with certification on completion.
We planned, installed and commissioned all new cable routes through the city of Nottingham, all on time and within budget. On top of this our team of dedicated fusion splicers created new distribution nodes and connections to businesses along 7 kilometres of area through Nottingham, providing 96 core fibre throughout Nottingham. We issued thorough end to end test results for all sites to ensure that ITS were providing the very best connection in every instance.
Notably, we provided all civil and fibre services under one roof for this project, so ITS were given complete support through all aspects of the project. This also meant that ITS only had to directly contact us when it came to discussing any aspects of project, wether it was civil works or fibre related.
We continue to work with ITS, providing network support and consultancy services. We’re also in early discussions with ITS to implement further fibre installation within the Nottinghamshire area, so that lightning fast connections can be provided to more businesses and networks in the region.
“I’ve really enjoyed the experience of working with Inside Out Group. As a connectivity business it’s important that we provide really good service to our customers and Inside Out Group are helping us do that on a very regular basis. We are very excited about the growing demand for fibre-to-premises and we’re looking forward to working with Inside Out Group more to provide those services”
